Planning a trip to Costa Rica? Check out the Legal Holidays. 2011 December 25th - Christmas (Holiday held same day) As it falls on a Sunday this year it will not affect businesses. However, most companies will be closed from December 24th to January 1st, 2012. Most banks will be open but may have special schedules which will be announced a couple of weeks in advance. 2012 January 1st - New Year's (Sunday) April 5th and 6th - Easter. Some companies are closed for the whole week. Banks only close Thursday thru Sunday. April 11th - Juan Santamaría Day
