What defines a townhome?  Generally the world over a townhouse shares common walls except for end units in a row of houses built in the same architectural style. The bylaws require that facades of the units must remain the same. They also contain restrictions regarding painting, landscaping and appropriate window coverings.  Rules also include the number of people and pets who may occupy a unit.
